Privacy, plainly
The relay carries the envelope. Your devices hold the meaning.
Local state
Messages, contacts, keys, drafts, and memory stay in an encrypted local store. Optional encrypted recovery copies are capability-addressed.
Relay visibility
The relay cannot read message bodies or contact names. Cloudflare can still observe network addresses, timing, byte sizes, and opaque routing capabilities.
Business model
Fold has no ads, tracking SDK, or sale of personal data. This founding beta is free while the sustainable paid model is tested openly.
No magic deletion
Expiry removes Fold’s local copies and requests peer cleanup; it cannot erase screenshots, exports, backups, or a recipient’s modified client.

The native iOS app is in repository testing and has no public TestFlight or App Store build yet.
Other targets
Intel Mac, Windows ARM, Linux ARM, Android, and a browser client are not available in this beta.

Relay address
https://fold.bruket.coFold uses this sealed-envelope relay by default. Advanced setup can point at a compatible relay you operate.
Account and recovery
Choose a name held on your devices, select a storage posture, then save and rehearse the one recovery secret before continuing.
FAQ
Before you install
Do I need a phone number or email?
No. Fold identities are keys. A handle, email address, or phone number can be added later for discovery, but none becomes a password or identity root.
Can the relay read my messages?
No. It stores opaque, sealed envelopes. It can still observe metadata such as network address, timing, size, and routing capabilities; Fold says so in its receipts.
Can I self-host?
Yes. A reference relay and Cloudflare Worker implementation are in the source repository. Running one well is an operator responsibility, not an anonymity guarantee.
What does Fold cost?
The founding beta is free. There are no ads or paid privacy tiers. Any future price and its operating tradeoffs will be stated before it applies.

Use the support page for ordinary problems and the private security route for a vulnerability. Get support.
